That victory ensured Kool also became the very first rider to be awarded the Red Jersey as she moved to the top of the General Classification, four seconds ahead of Wiebes and third-placed finisher on the stage, Chiara Consonni (UAE Team ADQ).
For her efforts, Kool was also awarded the Green Sprint Classification and White Young Rider Classification Jerseys, with Team Movistar Women rider Liane Lippert taking control of the Black Jersey (Intermediate Sprint Classification)

PRESS CONFERENCE
Stage winner, Red, Green and White Jersey holder Charlotte Kool said in the post-stage press conference: “It’s really exciting to have won today, especially with it being my first stage of the season. I was focused on my own race towards the finish because it was very chaotic and I lost some of my lead-out train, so I was really happy to finish it off like I did at the end.
“If I was able to win today, there’s no reason why I can’t also win tomorrow, so that is the goal and we will try as a team to do that.”
The Black Jersey Liane Lippert said in the post-stage press conference: “Our team’s plan for today was to try and create some echelons initially, but the crosswinds weren’t really strong enough to do that. The final was also very hectic which meant we weren’t in a position to go for the sprint with Emma [Norsgaard Bjerg], so it is great that I could get this jersey for my team.
“I had targeted it because the bonus seconds on offer for winning the intermediate sprints are important to me as a General Classification rider. I will try and go for more bonus seconds again tomorrow and hopefully that will mean I can defend the jersey.”
