Good Morning from Stage 1 of the UAE Tour Women
The Dubai Stage features 109km around Dubai and today’s winner will be awarded the race’s first-ever Red Jersey.

Port Rashid, Dubai (©Sprint Cycling Agency)Port Rashid (Dubai), 9 February 2023 – Good morning from Stage 1 of the first edition of the UAE Tour Women, organised by Abu Dhabi Sports Council and taking place from 9-12 February – the one and only UCI WorldTour race in the Middle East. The opening stage features 109km of riding on a mostly flat route departing from Port Rashid. It is expected to culminate with a bunch sprint in Dubai Harbour where the stage winner will be awarded the race’s first-ever Red Jersey.

The peloton, 118 riders strong, passed km 0 at 13.44.

THE ROUTE


Stage 1: Port Rashid – Dubai Harbour (109 KM)

A The Dubai Stage. Departing from Port Rashid and crossing the city, the route touches classic UAE Tour locations such as Ras al Khor, Meydan Racecourse, Umm Suqeim and Dubai Sports City before reaching the base of Palm Jumeirah, and the arrival into Dubai Harbour. The entire route runs along very wide, straight and well-paved roads which are interspersed with large roundabouts.
Last kms
The stage culminates on a wide avenue, with the sprint to the finish line taking place on asphalt.

The official race jerseys are provided by Italian brand Alé.
Red Jersey
General Classification: Worn daily, starting from Stage 2, by the leader of the General Classification by time.

Design: Features a floral motif that shows elegance, femininity and sinuosity, representing Fatima Bint Mubarak, the mother of the nation.

Green Jersey
Points Classification: Worn daily, starting from Stage 2, by the fastest sprinter, who has obtained the best positions in each stage and intermediate sprint.

Design: Features a silhouette of the famous Mount Everest, celebrating Nayla Al Baloushi, the first Emirati woman to scale that iconic mountain.

Young Rider Classification: Worn daily, starting from Stage 2, by the best young rider (U25) in the General Classification by time.

Design: Features vector lines that symbolise speed and dynamism, and represents Sheikha Mozah Al Maktoum, the first female commercial pilot captain.

Black Jersey
Intermediate Sprint Classification: Worn daily, starting from Stage 2, by the rider who has amassed the most intermediate sprint points.

Design: Features a pattern that represents space, honouring Nora Al Matrooshi, the first female Arabi and Emirati astronaut.
