Swede Ahlstrand won the 36th Tartu Rattaralli
Today’s Tartu Rattaralli on the magical South-Estonian roads was won by Swedish National Team rider Jonas Ahlstrand (2.58.22).
Decisive moments of the race started to take place after the 45th kilometer, when just 18 years old Estonian Kristo Prangel (Areal Team) attacked. Eight men got away and never looked back. Four men out of eight went ahead four kilometers before the finish. In the sprint finish a Swede Jonas Ahlstrand was the quickest, followed by Lithuanian Venantas Lašinis (Staki-Technorama) and Dane Yannick Janssen (Memil Pro Cycling). Young gun Prangel finished fourth.
„The race was quite hectic – a lot of wildness in the beginning and in the end. I wanted to be among the breakaway group and in the end it went well with the sprint finish. To sum it up, I can be happy with the weekend,“ said Ahlstrand who finished 11th in the Tour of Estonia.
Estonian Liisi Rist won among women, finishing three seconds before compatriot Mae Lang. Third place owner Kelly Kalm finished with the loss of 8.25 to Rist. In the general classification, Rist finished 42nd, with only a loss of 2.12 to the men’s winner Ahlstrand.
A total of 3272 riders started in the main distances of the 36th Tartu Rattaralli – 1791 to the shorter, 62 km race and 1481 to the longer, 135 km distance.
