ELIZABETH BANKS VINCE IN SOLITARIA A TIVOLI, VAN VLEUTEN MAGLIA ROSA
La tappa più lunga del Giro Rosa 2020, la quarta, da Assisi a Tivoli di oltre 170 chilometri, è stata conquistata da Elizabeth Banks dopo una lunga fuga di giornata. Sullo strappo finale che conduceva al centro di Tivoli, Elizabeth Banks ha avuto la meglio su Eugenia Bujak, sua compagna di fuga sin dalle prime battute, che è giunta al traguardo con un ritardo di 7”. A 1’10”, invece, si è piazzata Annemiek Van Vleuten che, così facendo, ha consolidato il suo vantaggio sulle dirette rivali in classifica generale. Da segnalare l’ottimo quarto posto di Elisa Longo Borghini che migliora anche la propria posizione in classifica generale.
Anche la tappa di oggi non ha dato pace alle atlete che sin dai primi chilometri hanno dovuto fare i conti con un caldo afoso tipicamente estivo e con un tracciato vallonato ideale per azioni da lontano. Fra le prime ad attaccare Ruth Winder che è riuscita ha guadagnare sino a 45” sul plotone. L’accelerazione del gruppo in corrispondenza del Gpm di Arrone, vinto da Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, ha ricompattato il gruppo sino al tentativo di Banks e Bujak. Hanno provato l’attacco anche Silvia Valsecchi e Rachel Neylan, purtroppo senza fortuna. il vantaggio delle attaccanti è arrivato sino a 6′ prima di calare con l’inizio delle manovre delle squadre delle pretendenti alla vittoria finale, tra cui Annemiek Van Vleuten che ha sferrato un attacco sulle rampe dello strappo di Tivoli.
Ormai, però, è troppo tardi e le due attaccanti sono le uniche a potersi giocare il successo finale. Banks ha più energie ed ai due chilometri dal traguardo scatta andando a conquistare la tappa. Elizabeth Banks, con la vittoria odierna, va a bissare il successo ottenuto lo scorso anno a Maniago, nell’ottava tappa del Giro Rosa 2019.

ENGLISH VERSION – ELIZABETH BANKS WINS SOLITARIA IN TIVOLI, VAN VLEUTEN PINK JERSEY
The longest stage of the Giro Rosa 2020, the fourth, from Assisi to Tivoli of over 170 kilometers, was conquered by Elizabeth Banks after a long day break. On the final tear that led to the center of Tivoli, Elizabeth Banks got the better of Eugenia Bujak, her escape companion from the very beginning, who reached the finish line with a delay of 7 ”. At 1’10 ”, on the other hand, Annemiek Van Vleuten was placed who, by doing so, consolidated her advantage over her direct rivals in the general classification. To report the excellent fourth place of Elisa Longo Borghini who also improves her position in the general classification.
Even today’s stage did not give peace to the athletes who from the first kilometers had to deal with a typically summer sultry heat and with a hilly track ideal for actions from afar. Among the first to attack Ruth Winder who managed to gain up to 45 ” on the platoon. The acceleration of the group in correspondence with the Gpm of Arrone, won by Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, brought the group back together until the attempt by Banks and Bujak. Silvia Valsecchi and Rachel Neylan also tried the attack, unfortunately with no luck. the advantage of the attackers reached up to 6 ‘before dropping with the start of the maneuvers of the teams of the contenders for the final victory, including Annemiek Van Vleuten who launched an attack on the ramps of the Tivoli arrival.
By now, however, it is too late and the two forwards are the only ones who can play for the final success. Banks has more energy and two kilometers from the finish line he sprints going to conquer the stage. Elizabeth Banks, with today’s victory, goes to repeat the success obtained last year in Maniago, in the eighth stage of the Giro Rosa 2019.
