TOUR DU LIMOUSIN: DAVIDE ORRICO IN FUGA NELLA TAPPA CONCLUSIVA
La Vini Zabù si è fatta vedere anche nella quarta e ultima tappa del Tour du Limousin, 169 km da Sauviat sur Vige a Limoges con il classico circuito che da anni fa da epilogo alla corsa a tappe transalpina.
Davide Orrico si è messo in evidenza con una bella fuga partita sulle rampe della Cote de Saint Denis des Murs da dove si sono sganciati quattordici corridori che hanno raggiunto un vantaggio massimo di 5’30” sul gruppo Maglia Gialla.
L’azione, della quale facevano parte anche Cardis, Dauschy, Geschke, Guglielmi, Fernandez, Peyskens, Duval, Marengo, Etxeberria, Jousseaume, Hardy, Coquard e Bais, era troppo pericolosa ed il gruppo ha imposto un grande ritmo per rientrare a distanza di sicurezza all’ingresso nel circuito finale.
In testa alla corsa saltava l’armonia ed era Delio Fernandez ad attaccare in solitario a 30 km dall’arrivo ma ai -16 km il gruppo rientrava su tutti gli attaccanti.
La grande sorpresa arrivava sullo strappo di Beauvais a 7 km dall’arrivo dove i tanti scatti e controscatti erano indigesti alla Maglia Gialla Dorian Godon che perdeva contatto da un gruppo nel quale resistevano Joab Schneiter, Veljko Stojnic ed Edoardo Zardini.
A festeggiare all’arrivo era però Erik Fetter che anticipava la volata a poco più di 1 km dall’arrivo mentre nel gruppo, ormai ridotto a meno di 30 unità, era Warren Barguil ad esultare per la conquista della classifica finale.
A tracciare un bilancio della spedizione Vini Zabù è il Direttore Sportivo Luca Scinto:
“Sono stati quattro giorni di corsa molto utili per capire la condizione di molti corridori e capire chi potrà avere un ruolo da protagonista nelle corse italiane di settembre. Ovviamente sono molto contento per ciò che ha fatto Veljko Stojnic che senza i problemi meccanici del primo giorno avrebbe potuto anche lottare per una posizione d’elite nella classifica generale. Veljko è un ragazzo giovane che abbiamo con noi fin dalla categoria Under 23, in quanto è cresciuto nelle fila del team Franco Ballerini, e che ci è mancato tanto nella prima parte di stagione. Mi è piaciuta l’attitudine generale di questi ragazzi che sono andati migliorando giorno dopo giorno in una corsa come sempre molto complicata”.

TOUR DU LIMOUSIN: DAVIDE ORRICO IN THE BREAKAWAY OF THE FINAL STAGE
Team Vini Zabù on the attack also in the final stage of the Tour du Limousin, 169 kms from Sauviat sur Vige to Limoges with the classical circuit where the french stage race ends from few years.
Davide Orrico was part of the fourteen riders breakaway who started their action on the ramps of the Cote de Saint Denis des Murs and who reached a maximum gap of 5’30” over the Yellow Jersey group.
Orrico and the other members of the breakaway group, Cardis, Dauschy, Geschke, Guglielmi, Fernandez, Peyskens, Duval, Marengo, Etxeberria, Jousseaume, Hardy, Coquard and Bais, were way too dangerous and the peloton set a high pace to keep them close as they approached the final circuit with 1’05”.
In the head of the race there was no harmony anymore and Delio Fernandez tried his luck with 30 kms to go but the peloton managed to close the gap with the spanish rider and the other escapees with 16 kms to go.
The big surprise came on the last time that the race was on the short climb of Beauvais where, with 7kms to go, the serie of attacks in the reduced peloton was too much for the Yellow Jersey Dorian Godon who was dropped while we still had Joab Schneiter, Veljko Stojnic and Edoardo Zardini.
It was Erik Fetter who celebrated on the finish line as he anticipated the sprint attacking inside the last km with Warren Barguil who won the final classification.
The Sports Director Luca Scinto is quite happy of the Tour du Limousin of the team Vini Zabù:
“These four days of racing were very useful to understand the condition of this group of riders and to understand who can be a part of the team for the italian races of september. Obviously I’m very happy for what Veljko Stojnic has done considering that without the puncture in the 1st stage he would have been in the fight for a good position in the general classification. Veljko is a very young rider, we have him since 2019 when he was racing in our Under 23 Team Franco Ballerini, and we missed him a lot in the first part of the season. I liked the attitude of these riders that did better day after day in this very complicated race”.
The next race for the team Vini Zabù will be on the 26th of august the Druivenkoers – Overijse
