Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the winner Marcel Kittel said: “It feels good to have seven stage victories at the Dubai Tour now but this one hasn’t been an easy one for sure. I think it’s fair to say that there wasn’t much of a lead out but Fabio Sabatini did an enormous amount of work to bring me back to the front. We knew about the last curve but we were a bit too far behind. It didn’t go according to plan but at the end it worked out. It feels good to have a strong supportive team. All I know from these two first stages is that I’m in a good shape but it’s too early to say if I can defend my overall title. In Hatta Dam, I’ll do like last year. I’ll try my very best to lose a minimum of time.” Press conference interviews and further details to follow.
